-haix-

haix.

haaaaaix... i was looking at the japan photos again, and... -haix-

I MISS MY LONG HAIR AND THE CURLS.

HAIX.

yar, as u can deduce, i cut my hair a few days ago. No la, not very short. still below shoulder. i know it's actually quite vain of me to complain, but.. BUT!!!!

-haix-

but i believe i will get used to it.. just like i'm sorta getting used to the muscle numbness @ the middle deltoid... (oh, the numbness is from the 4 injections i took today... vaccination requirements for studying in Sydney) Just that i think i'm sorta in my moaning phase... coz its only now that i remembered my "natural" hair is actually not THAT easy to manage...

=(

p/s: btw, all the japan photos that i think are worthy of my time spent uploading are already up. Go take a look if u haven't. Leave me some comments if u want.

Home "sweat" home

hehe. I'm back!! touched down @ Changi Airport at 10pm, reached home at 11pm, slept at 1pm, up at 9am! so unbelievable that i'm at home!!

Spent the morning and afternoon unpacking and catching up with my mum and brother. Apparently, my dad claimed to be uninformed of my trip, and said to my brother: so sad your sister didn't tell me about it... i feel like an outsider, whom she only turns to for money". ... -haix- sian diao. (oh btw, the $$ he's talking about is the 21st b-day present that i requested for, to help fund my trip)

Ahh~~ was so happy to be home!! my mum helped me changed the bed sheets and sprayed perfume on it, and turned the air-con on!! so sweet of her.. was so touched~~ so ytdy i slept soundly, as if i'm still in nara sleeping in the cold weather hehe.

anyway, talking about culture shock that i said i didn't have in the previous post, i wanna say tt it's only mostly true. Coz while kyoto and nara was fine, osaka was a different story. Wat happened was, we happen to put up in the area near the American Village in Shinsaibashi, which is a very HAPPENING place. notice the emphasis on HAPPENING. i must say i feel disconcerted, if not abit theratened, when i see punk youngsters dressed in all types of funky clothes filling up the street when only an hour ago girls were dressed feminiely and guys smartly along the streets of kyoto. To tell the truth, i was abit relieved not to have much time to spend in osaka. They're too... exciting for me. haha. (but no, i don't have photos to show their punk-ness; i was more concerned not to attract attention there by being a tourist -bleah-)

Interestingly, i kinda felt the impact of the culture shock only when i returned to Singapore... hrm. lemme list them down:

01. when in the cab home ytdy, i saw 2 guys dressed in singlets, berms and slippers cycling along the road. --- Abit *dots* for me when for the past 10 days ppl are groomed even when they're opening the letter-box outside their house.

02. the toilet paper!!! --- wah, how i missed the toilet paper in s'pore. i don't know if japan is trying to be environmental friendly or what, but the toilet rolls there are miserably thin. -haix-

03. when i went down for breakfast with mum and bro. --- frankly speaking, i felt abit nauseated when asked to order food, coz they just seemed so heavy and oily to me for a breakfast! i can't believe it too, but i think 10 days in japan has changed my diet pattern. ah~ how i missed the yogurt and bread (not forgetting Mister Dohnut), the onigiri, and the pudding!!!

04. when i tried to walk past the lane made narrow by the supermarket which spills their display racks to the pavement. --- while there are narrow walking paths in japan, they're usually only in areas where low ppl traffic is expected. i really can't rmr even having to squeeze thru the same amount of crowd at the railways stations during busy hours.

05. when my mum dumped the chee cheong fun that i got from another location into her niang tou fu. --- ... hrm. dietary options are not as wide for me as ytdy i suppose. i can't really control what i eat anymore yea? -haix-

And of course, the ultimate shock came when my brother finally confessed to me that he is attached!! and to my horror, since last month!!! argh~~~ how can he not tell me earlier??? -sulk- well, at least i did get something for his gf..

anyway, i think i'm still buffering back to being a s'porean. hahaha~ now sorting out the photos. will post them somewhere when it's done~ guess i shd start listing down the places i've gone to soon b4 i forget them!!

Straight from Yamanaka onsen

hehe. made an unexpected discovery that i can use the internet in this onsen hotel!!! muahaha. i shall make use of it to the fullest, having been isolated from the www for such a long time...

Hence, Dorothy reporting straight from Japan!

Had spent the 1st 2 days in Kyoto, visting temples and climbing slopes to reach them haha. Lotsa pictures taken. shall post them when i'm back. And today, i had my first taste of onsen!! PLUS it has an outdoor section as well!! muahaha... Air is cool, water is hot. Wat a luxury~ =)

Will be going to attent the Aoi Matsuri festival on 15th May in Kyoto. After that will be gg to Osaka, Nara, Koyasan, and hopefully Himeji Castle. It`s been surprisingly tiring, despite all the sleep i've got. But its been enjoyable!! hehe..

Another surprising thing is, somehow i don't feel that i'm in a foreign place, despite all the language barrier. Different environment, different lifestyle, but yet no culture shock yet. Hrm. Might be becoz we still have our teacher and his contacts to guide us around... But might also be becoz that ultimately, we are all humans~ hahaha~

General Elections 2006

PAP got the constituency i'm in. dunno good or not, since we were only back in this constituency for 2 months only... dunno how the PAP and WP candidates were.

Surprisingly, there weren't a long queue when i went to vote at 10am this morning. Something pissed me off though. The registration guy wrote my serial number onto the ticke butt of the voting ticket. Clearly, watever i vote can be traced back. So non-confidential. PLUS we can only drop our vote into the specified bin. Makes it even more convenient for them to trace back rite?

Hrm. maybe they have reasons for doing so la, but i think they should make the whole election process more transparent. It's the least they can do to re-assure the voters that yes, you're votes are sacred and confidential.

Anyway, its interesting to see how the GE is affecting my parents. One supported WP, while the other PAP. So when one brings up the issue of the content of a party's rally, the other will start critisizing or being cynical about it. AND they tried to garner more support for the party they are rooting for by trying to influence my decision.

Unfortunately, their daughter (aka yours truly) has a mind of her own, and cleverly escaped all possible political discussions and criticism by a single line: "Sorry, no comments".

adopt your own virtual pet!

In glory of Coralfish, my 1st and last fish, who died on 08/01/06.

You've outlasted Grad,
who mysteriously disappeared.
You've outlived Spike,
whose sudden death, i wondered.
You've battled illness,
that'd rendered you disabled.
You'll be on my mind, always,
My pet, my fish, my dear.

Rest in peace my dear~ i'll miss you...
